Intro to Frame Making
Intro to Frame Making
Thursdays Oct 1st and 8th
6-9:30. New class!
Two 3 ½ hour sessions
When people set out to make their own frames, they often get confused about two things, how much space to leave on the inside of the frame for the artwork and how to keep the mitered corners looking sharp and tight.
We will break down how to measure your artwork, draw a profile of how we want the frame to look and from there, develop a cut list to take to the table saw. We’ll cut our profiles, use a jig to cut tight, accurate corners and we’ll reinforce them with splines.
Each student will leave with two standard sized 8” x 10” frames, a piece of plexiglass and backer to fit. Alternately, if you have a special piece of art or a photo smaller than 12” x 12” you can make one frame to fit it.
This is the first run of the class. Please have a little patience if there are a few hiccups. I guarantee we’ll have fun and you’ll learn some new skills!
